Welcome

Welcome! First of all thank you for visiting our site. We are YPAHD, and our mandate is to make this time easier for YOU. We would like to assist you in any way that we can; to try and make YOUR "journey" with HD a little less bumpy.

We are a chapter of The Huntington Society of Canada that is made of up young people ranging from 16 to mid-30's, and we aspire to have a world free of Huntington's Disease (HD). This initiative was thought up during the 2008 National HD Conference. We felt as though there was no connection between youth who were affected by HD. It is a very difficult time, whether you are just finding out that the gene runs in your family, you are trying to apply for insurance, or beginning a family; there are many questions and concerns that come up. Our job is to help you during this time. This site will hopefully answer many of your questions, and if it does not feel free to email us.

Be sure to check out our "profile page", where you'll find our stories…how we have personally been affected by HD. We are all at different stages in our "journey" and therefore each have a unique set of knowledge about the disease. Don't be afraid to ask us questions.

Remember, take advantage of this site, stay informed about HD and get connected with other HD youth!

One of the reasons why we started YPAHD was to form a unified front in which we could disseminate information about Huntington's Disease. The more people that know about this disease the less likely we are to face discrimination in any sense; whether it be out in the community walking to the store or when applying for life or disability insurances. An educated public is a supportive public.
